Challenge 1: My Childhood Community
Memory Map
Draw a memory map of your childhood community including the streets, highways, schools, home, factories, shops and other buildings and structures (e.g., bridges). Incorporate colors to help make the map visually appealing and easier to comprehend. Label aspects depicted on your map. You may want to use a legend as a means of identifying areas of the map.
To complete this challenge, create the map and reflect on what it was like to grow up in this community.
Challenge 2: Leading Change through Culturally Informed Nursing Practice
To complete this challenge, work through the elearning module, *Leading Change through Culturally Informed Nursing Practice, and then answers a series of questions based on the content.
Challenge 3: My Adult Community
When applying the Culturally Informed Community Nursing Practice model, the interdisciplinary team will compare the community with other communities. This helps the team see the uniqueness and intricacies that make up a particular community and better understand the culture of the community.
In this activity you will have an opportunity to conduct a small-scale community comparison between your hometown community and the community in which you currently reside.
To complete this challenge, compare and contrast the community in which you grew up with the community where you currently reside. *If the community in which you are now living is also the community where you group, select a nearby community for your comparison.
